Genetically Modified Organisms (“GMO”) are living organisms whose genetic makeup has been manipulated, causing it to perform a certain way. GM foods first appeared on the market in the early 1990s. I hereby make reference to what I call the “GMO Trinity”, which consists of Corn, Soy and Canola. There is an astonishing presence of these ingredients in almost every product sold in regular supermarkets. At least one of these ingredients is always present, if not two or three at a time. Due to this, I enlist the ingredients of the GMO Trinity as propellants of a larger health conspiracy.
Corn
Now, what can possibly be so bad about corn? For starters, corn can easily be viewed as little sacks of starch bearing no real nutritional value. On top of that is the fact that corn has been genetically manipulated to the point that it is virtually resistant to insecticides and maintain the ability to grow. What does this mean? You’ve basically got pesticides seeped into your corn. No matter what methods you employ to clean your corn, including common washing, you will not be able to remove the ingrained pesticides. Simple evidence of this stems from the death of insects who consume the infested corn. How can that possibly be good for you? Pesticides are made from petrochemicals, which are chemical products derived from petroleum. Think crude oil. Common sense easily promotes that anything that has to do with the consumption of crude oil is bad for your health. Now let’s get back to the genetically modified part. When man manipulates plant genes and sends them off for human consumption without any long term testing, one should be weary. News such as GMO corn linked to organ damage may seem surprising at face value if one is not properly versed in the aforementioned. Common forms of corn based ingredients include High Fructose Corn Syrup (“HFCS”), corn flour, ethyl alcohol, glucose, corn starch and just about anything else that requires lots of starch. Roughly 86% of the corn in the United States is GM Corn.

Corn producers have tons of cash to defend themselves. With the support of their monetary bounty they strategically launched an anti-smear campaign proclaiming that HFCS is just as safe to consume as natural sugar. People should be asking themselves why corn producers would go to such lengths to defend their product, which is substantially dominant in the agriculture market.
Soy
No way, soy?!- the high protein, cancer preventing health food? Isn't it healthy like tofu? That is what people are “trained” to believe. In the United States, soy is a huge crop with over 93% of soybeans bearing the GM stamp. Genetically modified soybeans are being used in an increasing number of products under the guise of it being nutritious. Delving deeper, soybeans been genetically modified to be resistant to herbicide of Monsanto. Who is Monsanto? Strictly for the purposes of this specific topic, Monsanto is a corporation with the intellectual rights to genetically modified soy and corn (I will delve into the specifics of Monsanto in another subsection). Contrary to popular media’s portrayal of soy’s cancer prevention benefits, soy has actually been linked to breast cancer in women because of its high estrogen levels and prostate cancer in men.

Canola
Last but not least is the base commonly used in the favorite American method of cooking- frying. Canola, which is short for “Canada Oil” formed its alias to make it more appealing. It is a genetically modified form of Rapeseed with 93% of Canola in the United States being GM. Now, what exactly is Rapeseed? Minus having the term rape as its prefix, it was the main component in mustard gas used in World War I. Rapeseed oil itself is not recommended for human consumption. What would make anyone think a genetically modified version of machine lubricant is edible? Obviously I don’t feel like it is edible and after reading this I would hope you feel the same. Keep a keen eye on those micro-sized ingredient lists on the back of food products. As soon as I see Canola among the ingredients, it returns to the shelf.

Bottom line
Anything that is GMO I classify as a "Soft Kill" and should be avoided a majority of the time. It doesn't necessarily kill you right away but it makes your golden years turn to rust by making you suffer with Diabetes, Cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and other brain related diseases. The quicker you stop ingesting these toxins the better you will feel and you will most definitely lose weight.
